The Perry County Sheriff's office is committed to courteous and professional service to our citizens while
ensuring their safety and well being through the prevention of crime, and the fair and partial enforcement of the
law. The Office has been led by Sheriff James Hood since 1979, making this his 32nd year in office. January
2011 he will have served his 9th term in as Sheriff.



The office believes that the protection of life and property are its highest priority and that the right and dignity of
all people serve by it are th up most importance. We are dedicated to Community Policing, and using
appropriate community resources to help prevent domestic Violence.
The Perry County Sheriff's Office currently employs 9 sworn deputies that patrol 720 sq. miles between the two
cities of Marion and Uniontown, which make up Perry County. Along side this team is a jail staff of 11
employees that maintain the county jail. The jail houses on an average 59 inmates. Our deputies are
responsible for serving all subpoenas, divorce decrees, arrest warrants, civil papers, and eviction notices.
The Office through its members will serve the public in a prompt and courteous manner preventing crime,
enforcing the laws and delivering all police service without regards to race, color, creed, national origins or
financial standing. It recognizes the individual worth of its members and its relationship with the community it
serves, and will remain sensitive to their priorities and needs.
It is the goal of the Perry County Sheriff's Office to prevent crime, enforce the laws, apprehend criminals,
protect all citizens and provide such services as may deem necessary.
